The Oratorio Anthology - Soprano (The Vocal Library Soprano). Edited by Richard Walters. For Piano, Vocal (Soprano). The Vocal Library. Baroque and Classical Period. Difficulty: medium-difficult to difficult. Collection. Vocal melody, piano accompaniment, translations, introductory text and lyrics. 223 pages. Published by Hal Leonard.
This is the most serious and useful collection yet published of solo arias from oratorios, masses and cantatas. The literature is confined to work by major composers, and by-passes the dated oratorio literature found in previous collections. The most famous music is here, and so is interesting and less famous music by masters. There are new music engravings for each aria, and extensive historical notes and translations. Solo instrumental obbligato parts, which can be cut from the book, are included on appropriate selections.
Contents:
* Seufzer, Thranen, Kummer, Noth [from Cantata No. 21] (Johann Sebastian Bach)
* Mein glaubiges Herze [from Cantata No. 68] (Johann Sebastian Bach)
* Zerfliesse, mein Herze [from St. John Passion] (Johann Sebastian Bach)
* Blute nur, du liebes Herz [from St. Matthew Passion] (Johann Sebastian Bach)
* Welche Labung fur die Sinne [from The Seasons] (Franz Joseph Haydn)
* Quia respexit (Johann Sebastian Bach)
* and more
