The Jive Samba by Nat Adderley. Arranged by Mark Taylor. For Jazz Ensemble (Score & Parts). Young Jazz Classics. Grade 3. Published by Hal Leonard.
Recorded by the Cannonball Adderley Quintet in the 1960s, this distinctive samba was composed by Cannonball's brother Nat. Featuring a relaxed Latin groove and the familiar riff-like melodies, Mark's chart uses an ensemble of 3 saxes, trumpet and trombone alternating with punches from the entire ensemble. Solos are included for alto and trumpet, and the shout chorus features occasional 3/4 measures thrown in for added spice.
