This is the first in a set of three spirituals with the overarching title of “Songs for the Journey.” They celebrate those who have made the trek to freedom during the era of slavery, inspire those who journey through life presently, and joyously celebrate those whose journeys have ended on this side and commenced on the other side of Jordan.
