Join us this Thursday for an electrifying performance of Orff’s Carmina Burana along with the delightful Overture to Hänsel und Gretel by Humperdink and selections from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake Suite.
In an interview in the New Haven Register William Boughton said, “I’ve conducted it [Carmina Burana] many times, but for this I’ve gone back to the original score and tried to look at it completely afresh...,” noting it’s a much faster pace. “The electricity of doing it to the right tempo makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand out,” he says. The NHSO will be joined by over 200 voices from choirs across Connecticut including The Fairfield County Chorale, The Fairfield County Children's Choir, and The Concert Choir of Western Connecticut State University. In addition, soprano Amanda Hall, tenor Joshua Kohl, and baritone Michael Mayes, will lend their acclaimed voices to the Woolsey stage.

Our Prelude pre-concert lecture featuring Yale School of Music's Richard Gard starts at 6:300pm at Sudler Hall in Yale’s Harkness Hall, 100 Wall Street, New Haven. Gard will discuss the music, poetry, and history of Carmina Burana.
FREE BUS RIDE TO CONCERT FROM ORANGE
The Orange Arts and Culture Council is offering free bus transportation to Thursday’s performance at Woolsey Hall.
The bus will leave from High Plains Community Center at 6:45pm. and will return there after the concert. You do not need to be an Orange resident and there is no charge.
