Career Strategies for Visual Artists ~ Season 2

NEW HAVEN, CT (October 10, 2013)- MAKE.ART.WORK., a comprehensive professional practice program for visual artists in CT, will launch its second season of workshops on October 28, 2013.  The program, which will run through June of 2014, is designed to support artists who are in pursuit of a professional career as an artist (actively showing and selling their work) to take the next steps towards achieving their goals. Online registration for the program is underway at www.makeartwork.org.

Artists who join the Make.Art.Work. program will learn to:

• strengthen their ability to set and achieve career goals as an artist.
• increase business knowledge and entrepreneurial skill sets.
• develop a network of peer artists to foster continual career support.

Participants will have access to 6 evening workshops and one "Super Saturday" workshop.  Each of the evening workshops will be presented in Fairfield, Hartford and New Haven.  Topics include:

·         Goal Setting (October)

·         Websites & Managing Your Images (December)

·         Presenting & Pricing Your Work (January)

·         Financial & Legal Considerations for Artist / Funding Your Work (March)

·         Super Saturday: Session 1: Marketing / Session 2:Working with Exhibitors / Session 3: Beyond the Gallery ~Art Fairs, Open Studios, ETSY (April 5)

·         Social Media (Blogging, Pinterest and more) (May)

·         Putting It All Together (June)

Special Invitation: A limited number of artists will have the option of joining a "Cohort Group" in one of the 3 cities.  Cohort membership includes access to 6 evening workshops, the Super Saturday workshop, 3 small group-coaching sessions, a workbook, and additional networking.   Cohort members will receive special pricing of $225 for the entire package. 

Important Note: There are only 15 Cohort spots open in each city, all of which are filled on a first-come-first-serve basis.  In year one, all of the Cohort spaces sold-out before the first workshop of the season took place.  Additional "general seating" will be offered for each individual workshop.  Registration  must be made online through our website at www.makeartwork.org. 

Evening workshops run 2 1/2 hours in length, from 6-8:30pm.  Single workshops are offered at $28 per person at each of the following three venues: Fairfield University; University of New Haven, SAW MILL CAMPUS; and The Mark Twain House & Museum in Hartford. Enrollmentwill be limited to ensure the individual needs of artists are met.
