Help Us Connect Music School Alumni!
Music School of Delaware "Alumni" are those people who ever took lessons, a class, ensemble or summer program at the school. If you've enjoyed private lessons, been part of an ensemble, or attended a workshop -- that means you! Maybe you know an alumnus of the Music School -- a friend, family member, colleague? In any case, help us all reconnect to one another and to the Music School! We're hosting several alumni events this year and hope to see many familiar faces return to celebrate their Music School experience. Look for our alumni profiles in each monthly eNewsletter. Reconnect with us and encourage any alumni you know to rekindle good music memories by reaching out to us. We would love to hear about current activities of our past students! Email alumni@musicschoolofdelaware.org.

Faculty Focus
Each month, we spotlight a faculty member.
JOANNE WARD
Wilmington Faculty
Choral Dept. Head
How long have you been teaching at the Music School? I've been teaching here in one capacity or another since 1992.
What do you do for fun on the weekends?
My weekends frequently involve performing or conducting. When not involved musically, I spend time with my husband, Chuck, love to cook and garden, and I'm committed to exercising.
Who is your favorite performing artist, living or dead? I seek out choral performances, such as Chanticleer, The Kings Singers and women's choirs. I love a cappella singing and am a fan of Straight, No Chaser.
What's your favorite thing about teaching at the Music School?
Conducting the Delaware Women's Chorus. They're warm and compassionate; want to be great; and are willing to try any crazy thing I ask of them. No matter how tired I am, I'm energized and excited by the time rehearsal ends.
What's your best advice to a young musician? Every person, situation, success or failure has something to teach us. Someone always knows more than you do - be open and willing to learn!
