Amore Scaduto (roughly translated "Broken Love") borrows its title from a romance novel I sa at a newsstand in Rome last fall [in 2004]. The piece itself is a brief duo for violin and cello in which the instruments find themseleves in varying degrees of compatibility. They each threaten to take off in very separate directions, but manage to find occasional points of unification and resolution. Amore Scaduto was written in celebration of Network for New Music [Philadelphia's] 20th anniversary.
