Product Description
Jascha Heifetz composed his Cadenzas to the Beethoven Violin Concerto in the 1930s. Loosely based on the cadenzas by Auer and Joachim, Heifetz created a brilliantly conceived and highly original work. The Chorus of Dervishes and the Turkish March are movements of Beethoven op. 113, incidental music to the ruins of Athens composed in 1811. These Auer transcriptions were among Jascha Heifetz's first recordings in the United States (1917). Jascha Heifetz's bowings, fingerings and editorial suggestions are contained in the violin part of this edition. The first publication of the Cadenza is based on the mimeographed manuscript copy Mr. Heifetz gave me while I was a member of his studio. This critical Urtext Edition of both excerpts from the Ruin of Athens is based on the first print of the Auer transcription. - Endre Granat Includes piano score and violin part.
