Product Description
Bela Bartok's 44 Duos for two violins represent a revolutionary approach to counterpoint. Typical of Bartok, they are based on Hungarian folksongs - some melancholy and dark, others rustic and boisterous. However, also typical of Bartok, they are highly experimental, toying with dissonance, polytonality, and rhythm. There are even some duets in this collection in which the two violin parts are playing in different keys at the same time! Book 1 contains the first 22 duets. This edition is presented in score form (both violin parts are printed on the same page). Published by Boosey & Hawkes. Difficulty: ASTA grades 3-4
