Adolphus Hailstork - Theme and Variations on Draw the Sacred Circle Closer

American composer, Adolphus Hailstork, is one of the preeminent living composers today, and is known for using the musical influences of Africa, America, and Europe in his work. This piece was originally composed for cello but was arranged for viola by Hailstork after many requests. The piece is based on a theme from a cantata titled Earthrise, also composed by Hailstork.
