Originally composed for piano, the Humoresque, Op. 10, No. 2, was arranged for violin and piano by Tchaikovsky himself. This edition, based on a 1946 engraving of Tchaikovskys complete works edited by Ivan Shishov and N. Shemanin, has been revised and annotated by Clark McAlister. Mr. McAlister has taken care to incorporate footnotes from the consulted edition into the music itself. The Humoresque is, appropriately, a light, almost frivolous piece calling for agility of finger and jocundity of character.
