Product Description

Category: String Quartet ** Title: Frankensteins Monster Repertoire ** Composer: Hindemith, Paul ** Edited by: Luitgard Schader ** Book/Part: Score and Parts ** Publisher: Schott Music Edition ** Difficulty: A3/A4.

Previously unpublished, Paul Hindemiths Frankensteins Monster Repertoire was written around 1944, as a string quartet transcription of an earlier work, his Three Easy Pieces for Cello and Piano. How it came by the name has nothing to do with the character of the music, but rather with Hindemiths great love of horror films, including the famous 1931 thriller, Frankenstein, starring Boris Karloff in the role of the monster. The pieces title was added arbitrarily, in dedication to a small group of musicians Hindemith and his wife would read quartets with - a group which, upon discovering a shared love of horror movies, decided to name itself "The Frankenstein Quartet". Frankensteins Monster Repertoire is a short piece, but a charming and accessible one as well.
