Product Description

Fun With Basics III: Beginner Book for Violin by Evelyn Avsharian..... A first book of tuneful studies preparing for Wohlfahrt. Includes related music theory for intermediate-beginner. 48 pp.

This book is separated into two etude sections, “Easy Etudes Book I for Violin” and “Easy Etudes Book II for Violin”, and a scales section titled “Scales of One and Two Octaves with Rhythm and Bowing Games”. Compared to other books in the series, Fun With Basics has smaller text and notation, but it is still much larger than standard engraved sheet music. With no illustrations and written instructions or questions on most pages, it is more appropriate for reading-proficient students. The first etudes book has 16 short etudes with 32 intermittent workbook-style questions. It is mostly in first position and with basic fingering, but low finger two and low finger one are introduced in the key of C and F. One-octave open string scales and sixteenth notes are introduced. Also, there is a preliminary introduction to third position and shifting. The second etude book acts as a preliminary book to the Wohlfahrt Studies, teaching bowing and rhythmic variations, simple double stops, easy string crossings, and trills. It has only 9 studies, but they are longer than the previous and have additional variations. The scale book introduces G, A, and B-flat two-octave scales in major and harmonic minor with ten very fun rhythmic and bowing variations that can be applied to each. Arpeggios and the key of E flat is also introduced. 46 pages.
