These eleven duos by Bela Bartok are based on some of his works for choir. Appropriately, these transcriptions for violin ensemble have an air of singing about them - very clear melodies, close harmonies, etc. They keep their folksong feel, translating very easily to the violin. Apparently, the composer intended to make these string transcriptions himself before his death, but it never quite came to fruition. That wish has now been fulfilled in this set of transcriptions by Endre Szervanszky. This edition contains a score and parts for three violins, and is transcribed and edited by Endre Szervanszky.
